AOC Announces 2025 Prestige Award Winners

The Association of Old Crows (AOC) has announced the recipients of its 2025 Prestige Awards, recognizing exceptional contributions to electronic warfare, electromagnetic spectrum operations, and the defense community. AOC’s highest honors, the awards recognize individuals who have advanced EW capabilities, strengthened international partnerships, and shaped the future of electromagnetic domain operations.

The awards will be presented at the 2025 AOC International Symposium & Convention, December 9-11 in National Harbor, Maryland.

Gold Medal Award

Dave Hime’s visionary leadership transformed electronic warfare from legacy self-protection systems to adaptive, distributed, and cognitive technologies. His work has shaped global strategy, research, and doctrine across the Department of Defense, industry, and international partners to ensure enduring electromagnetic spectrum superiority.

 

Hal Gershanoff Silver Medal Award

Glenn “Powder” Carlson is well known for his distinguished leadership across the electromagnetic spectrum community. As a decorated Air Force officer, influential industry leader, and steadfast AOC advocate, Carlson’s contributions embody the highest ideals of the electronic warfare officer and will continue shaping the industry for generations.

 

Hal Gershanoff Silver Medal Award – International

Gerhard Henselmann, Dipl.-Ing, MBA is recognized for exceptional service to the German Red Baron Roost Chapter of AOC. Through his visionary leadership, he revitalized and strengthened the chapter, enabling growth even during the COVID-19 pandemic while enhancing AOC’s visibility across Germany’s defense community.

 

Anton D. “Tony” Brees Lifetime Service Award

Laurie Moe Buckhout’s distinguished service spans a career as an Army officer, Defense Science Board advisor, defense consulting firm CEO, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Cyber Policy, and AOC President. Her expertise and commitment have driven advances in EW technologies, capabilities, and workforce development.

 

AOC Technology Hall of Fame

For more than 37 years, David A. Wilkes has contributed to the development of electronic warfare technologies, pioneering experimentation, and successful capability transitions to warfighters that have measurably advanced both US Air Force and DOD mission effectiveness across multiple operational domains.

 

Joseph W. Kearney Pioneer Award

Dr. Kyle Davidson’s outstanding contributions span military service with the Canadian Army, academic leadership, and industry innovation. His current work with Agile Electromagnetics uses machine learning and multi-function antenna arrays to counter unmanned aerial system threats, marking significant advancement in modern EW systems.

 

John M. Clifford Award for the Advancement of the Electromagnetic Domain

As a cornerstone of the Test & Evaluation community for more than 42 years, Kevin Stillwell’s advocacy for cross-service and international collaboration has driven meaningful improvements across the global defense community. His invaluable guidance on the effective deployment of advanced testing systems has broadened the impact of EW capabilities around the world.
