Dixie Crow Community Gathers for Successful Crowtoberfest

The 2025 Annual Dixie Crowtoberfest Friends & Family Picnic, featuring the 4th Annual BBQ Cook-Off, proved to be a resounding success on October 25 despite coinciding with a government shutdown and associated furloughs. Beautiful weather greeted attendees at the Brooks Ranch, where hosts Robyn and Rod welcomed the community for a day of competition and celebration.

Gary Naugle claimed first place in the BBQ competition, with Anthony Machen accepting honors on his behalf. Darius (Juan) Thomas secured second place, while Kyle Machen rounded out the top three. Other competitors included Rod Brooks, Jerrell Jordan, Greg Fielding, Justin Brooks, Steve Arnold, and Buck Sue. Judges Nick, Jodi, John Lewis, and Thomas Reynolds had the difficult task of evaluating the entries.

Attendees enjoyed a feast of pulled pork, smoked sausage, hot dogs, baked beans, hashbrown casserole, coleslaw, and an array of desserts including cookies, pastries, and candy. The event featured family-friendly entertainment with a bounce house, connect four, checkers, and ample outdoor space for children to enjoy.
