Minnesota Chapter Hosts Tech Seminar on Radar Detection
The AOC Minnesota Chapter held a technical seminar on January 21, focusing on advanced radar pulse deinterleaving techniques. Twenty-five people attended the evening event, including one dedicated participant who traveled four hours in a blizzard!
Brian Turnquist, Chief Technology Officer of Minneapolis-based Boon Logic, presented on using unsupervised machine learning to identify and classify unknown radar emitters in real-time. The presentation addressed challenges posed by modern software-defined radar systems that can change their characteristics to avoid detection.
Turnquist, who holds a doctorate in mathematics, brought expertise from his neuroscience background at Johns Hopkins and his work developing artificial intelligence applications for mission-critical industries. His presentation explored how machine learning can help deinterleave pulses from unknown emitters encountered in the field and match them to known emitter types.
Boon Logic sponsored the three-hour seminar, providing food and drinks for attendees.
