Saab Opening New Production Facility for Sirius Compact in Tampere
To accommodate the growing demand of its passive electronic warfare (EW) sensor, Sirius Compact, Saab will launch a new production facility in Tampere, Finland, early this year.
The Sirius Compact, which was first introduced in 2022, has been widely embraced by the market, with substantial deliveries slated for 2025. In response, Saab is scaling operations to initiate volume serial production at the Tampere facility.
“Saab’s footprint is growing in Finland with a focus on research and development operations in the field of electronic warfare,” said Kristian Tornivaara, managing director for Saab Finland. “This initiative underscores Saab’s commitment to provide cutting-edge defense solutions to customers.”
Beyond the Sirius Compact, Saab Finland provides advanced sensor network capabilities and threat library management tools to support tactical Electronic Support Measures (ESM) operations.
The Tampere facility is scheduled to become operational early this year.
The Sirius Compact sensor family offers advanced passive surveillance, enabling detection, geo-location, classification and prioritization of hostile radar (R-ESM) and communication (C-ESM) emitters. These versatile sensors are tailored for use across land, air and naval domains.
