ORION 26 saw France lead one of Europe’s largest multinational military exercises, uniting 24 allied nations in preparation for high-intensity, multi-domain warfare environments. The operation highlighted a critical reality: control of the electromagnetic spectrum was central to military dominance.

ATDI was selected by COMCYBER, France’s Cyber Defence Command, to demonstrate its electromagnetic surveillance capabilities. COMCYBER was responsible for organising and conducting cyber defence operations across the French armed forces. Its decision to task ATDI, a recognised leader in spectrum operations with direct, field-proven experience from ongoing conflicts, underscored the strategic importance of electromagnetic dominance in modern operational theatres.

Selected for its spectrum operations expertise, ATDI demonstrated its electromagnetic surveillance capability during ORION 26. The ICS Monitoring solution had proven its effectiveness in the Ukraine conflict and delivered real-time spectrum awareness, including surveillance, early warning, and radiolocation (TDOA/AOA). For the exercise, it was deployed in a tailored configuration using a limited number of broadband receivers and direction finders.

ICS Monitoring enabled continuous spectrum surveillance, detected signals of interest, and provided commanders with real-time spectrum data via API integration. This intelligence supported rapid decision-making, protected operational integrity, and ensured a resilient communications environment in a contested, EW-heavy battlespace.

In that operational environment, whether on land, at sea, in the air, or in cyberspace, electromagnetic dominance was not an advantage.

“Electromagnetic dominance is no longer a strategic advantage; it is an operational requirement,” said Barbara Monrose, Head of Strategic Accounts at ATDI. “Our involvement in ORION 26 reflects both our proven experience in active theatres and the increasing recognition that spectrum control is essential to modern defence operations.”

About Orion 26
ORION 26 is one of Europe’s largest and most complex multinational military exercises, led by France and involving 24 allied nations. Designed to simulate high-intensity, multi-domain warfare, it tests joint force readiness across land, air, sea, cyber, and electromagnetic environments. The exercise focuses on strategic coordination, rapid decision-making, and operational resilience under realistic combat conditions. ORION 26 reflects a growing recognition that control of the electromagnetic spectrum is vital to modern military dominance.
