The Netherlands is to procure counter-unmanned air system (C-UAS) equipment from Elbit Systems (Haifa, Israel) over a four-year period.
Under a $55 million contract awarded by the Dutch Ministry of Defence – through the Materiel and IT Command (Commando Materieel en IT – COMMIT) – Elbit will deliver its multi-layered ReDrone C-UAS system to the Netherlands.
The Netherlands in February 2022 released a tender for the supply and in-service support of C-UAS systems affording a modular capability for UAS detection, classification, identification, neutralization, and command and control. The scope of supply included both fixed and mobile systems.
Elbit’s ReDrone is a system of systems solution that marries the company’s DaiR X-band multi-mission tactical radar, signal intelligence sensors and COAPS-L electro-optical/infrared payload with high-end electronic attack capabilities. The system is fully controlled by a unified command and control system.
According to Elbit, ReDrone “provides functionalities beyond the common active and passive sensors that enable it to rapidly detect and locate multiple drones simultaneously within the protected area.” It adds that the system can detect, identify, locate, track, and neutralize hostile UAS during day and night, both in urban and rural environments and under various weather conditions.
Under its scope of contract with COMMIT, Elbit Systems will supply several mobile, stationary and deployed configurations of ReDrone. The company will also deliver logistic support package and training.
